In the last few years, crash games have become a popular option when it comes to online casino games. However, this new game type is still not widely available at the vast majority of online casinos. Because of this, many players who come across them really have no idea what they are and how they work.

But, they are clearly the next big thing. One top game, Aviator, has seen huge popularity on a global scale with more than 10 million players joining in to play the game each month. The Aviator game in India is also hugely popular, with more players betting on the game’s outcome.

What is Aviator?

To start at the beginning, we need to explain what Aviator actually is. The game is a simple one. Players just bet on the plane’s virtual climb into the sky. At some point in the game, it is inevitable that the plane will begin to come down — think a sort of Angry Birds but the arc of return is not a clear one. When the plane does come down and crash, the game is over. Players have to figure out when to cash out before the descent begins thus winning money. The longer the plane is in the air, and the longer the player holds out, the bigger the win.

Uncovering crash gambling

And now you know what crash gambling is all about. Really though, this game came about as a sort of response to cryptocurrencies. In its basic form, this is all crash gambling is — betting on a potential turn of events, much like placing bets on the stock market for instance. Or, simply purchasing cryptocurrencies and dealing with how volatile it all is.

However, there is the added bonus of this game carrying a multiplier. This means that the longer a player can wait out the potential crash, the bigger the win can be. Like all casino games, these types of crash games are still operated using a random number generator. This means that the outcomes are fair and random without any bias. Impressively, they have an RTP of around 97%, which is on the higher end of the scale.

Top crash games

While Aviator is one of the most popular, and well-known, options it is far from the only crash game. Many developers have now jumped on board this new trend for games. Consequently, there are now a large number of crash games available. In addition to Spribe’s Aviator (created in 2018), 2022 saw a surge of additional games such as Space XY from BGaming, Skyward from BetGames, and Cash or Crash Live from Evolution. The latter game has one of the highest RTPs out there, sitting at an unbelievable 99.59%.

Why are they so popular?

These games are on the rise, but why? Well, the mechanics of the game itself is part of the reason. They’re very simple to play and many of them were specifically playable with cryptocurrencies only in the early days. This made them even more appealing to those players who were joining crypto casinos and found that they could enjoy something a little different.

Not only this, but these games do give players the illusion of control. Unlike slots, which are completely random, players of crash games do get to choose when the game ends, and they cash out. Additionally, let’s not forget the appeal of a high RTP, which can really make a difference when it comes to claiming wins over an extended period of time.

Finally, there is a social element to crash games. This is because they typically have a shared experience with other players, with friends also playing in the same lobbies. These games are also perfect for those wanting to stake tiny amounts, which makes them an easy starting point for any new player.
